Autumn When the trees their summer splendor Change to raiment red and gold, When the summer moon turns mellow, And the nights are getting cold; When the squirrels hide their acorns, And the woodchucks disappear; Then we know that it is autumn, Loveliest season of the year. ~Charlotte L. Riser~ |

Autumn Color Jack Frost paints a portrait of beauty With colors so vivid and bright; It's framed with a purple misty haze And draped in a frosty night. Big, fat, bright orange pumpkins Nestle snugly among shocks of corn; Leaves flutter silently earthward; Ice sparkles like glass in the dawn. The nuts drop softly upon the ground, Leaves fall and hide them there; Squirrels work away industriously, Their winter store to prepare. A pale harvest moon sails serenely Across a star-studded sky, And smiles on a world full of color Since Jack Frost has just passed by. ~unknown~ |

Autumn Leaves One of the nicest beds I know Isn't a bed of soft white snow. Isn't a bed of cool green grass After the noisy mowers pass. Isn't a bed of yellow hay Making me itch for half a day But autumn leaves in a pile that high, Deep and smelling like fall and dry. That's the bed where I like to lie And watch the flutters of Fall go by. ~by Aileen Fisher~ |

Fall The old earth is changing; The seasons turn round. The autumn leaves flutter Their way to the ground. My own world is changing; The seasons conspire To grant me the peace Of a rest by the fire ~Melissa Pinol~ |

Autumn Storehouse I'd like to take October days And store them in my mind, To warm me during Winter's reign When nature proves unkind. Then I remember sunshine, The Autumn rich with gold, And tawny fields a-flower With wonders quite untold. My thoughts will ease the moments When in reverie I dwell, And linger for the present In some bright majestic dell. ~Virginia Borman Grimmer~ |

Autumn Leaves Leaves in the autumn came tumbling down, Scarlet and yellow, russet and brown, Leaves in the garden were swept in a heap, Trees were undressing, ready for sleep. ~unknown~ |

Indian Summer Nothing can steal your heart away Quicker than Indian Summer days, When the sun is warm and the shadows are cool, The lake water stands like a bright blue pool. The warm sand begs you to bare your feet The balmy air is meadow-sweet, Leaves are falling from colorful trees, And nature has moved in, merely to tease... She comes with her warm days, just to betray... For winter is only a breath away! ~Sallie Hinds~ |
